Our Mission
Astrology is a pseudo-science, meaning some aspects of Astrology are based in scientific fact, while others are based in our subjective understanding of ourselves. In Astrology, we take the structures of the cosmos - Planets, stars, comets, and their paths through the sky—and with great care, map the Human experience into their orbits, gravitational pulls, and reflected light.
This leaves each one of us with an atlas of our skills, personalities, and life compartments, taking into account our movement through life. Our moods wax and wane, like the moon’s gravitational pull on earth. We gravitate toward some ideals and people more than others, our judgment developing as we go - just as the planets experience gravitational pulls, adjusting their orbital direction as they move through the Solar System. Most importantly—we hurl ourselves forward through time and space like little celestial bodies, orbiting around our principles, communities, and occupations, constantly making progress—though sometimes, we fall into Retrograde, take a step back, and feel as though we’ve lost precious time.
The work of taking ourselves apart to access our Humanity is not a scientific endeavor, but a pursuit of creativity, our imagination, and most importantly, a pursuit of ourselves. In a world where we so easily forget who we are and how to behave, this is an ethical undertaking, which requires integrity, courage, self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-development. LUX Astrology exists to help you drive this pursuit, by working with your real life, goals, and relationships; maximizing ethical and fulfilling results while reducing friction with the world and yourself; and most importantly, by amusing and amazing yourself.
Love, The Astrologer
My name is Kelley Jeanne. I live by the ocean in Los Angeles, have a lovely group of friends and family, and enjoy dressing up to enjoy an exquisite cocktail in my spare time. Most importantly, I love Astrology. It’s how my days and nights are spent, and I enjoy it as much in solitude as I do with you.
At one time, I thought my Zodiac Sign was extra special. A page in a friend’s Astrology book vividly described my natural talents, brilliance, and gifts—as well as those of the esteemed celebrities and sages who shared my exact birthday. I felt flawless and powerful. My ego was like a celebrity itself, ready to take on the world with my new-found stardom!
Then, as for many of us, life gifted me a series of reality checks. Turns out, being a star and truly liking yourself can be difficult to achieve in unison. My judgment had taken off like a runaway horse, and right and wrong became less obvious over time. I worked hard, but for the wrong reasons. I had the right ideas, but relayed them in all the wrong ways. And in the end of this chapter, when I did achieve moments of stardom, I couldn’t help but notice other stars shining more brightly and authentically than my own. That feeling from reading my friend’s book had long vanished—I had to ask myself, is being me all it’s cracked up to be?
It was in this time that I discovered my real Astrology chart—more than the page in my friend’s book. The same list of strengths appeared, but so did the challenges that come with them. Along with the Houses, Planets, and Signs, the various parts of my personality and life were suddenly laid on the table—all of them. Some parts worked together beautifully, some caused internal friction, some simply needed polishing, and some had never even been discovered.
I no longer felt flawless—but I did feel more powerful than before. And, I felt extra extra special.
Like humans in life, the Planets and Signs propel forward in time and space, changing direction and magnitude as they go—and they go together differently for each of us, every bit as unique as our fingerprints. Even twins, born at the same time and in the same place, encounter different Signs and ways to leverage their similarities, putting themselves on different trajectories within the same universe. It’s complex and stunning—and this is why LUX Astrology exists.
Studying ourselves against the night sky is a noble pursuit. In understanding ourselves, we realize that the bad isn’t so extreme, and the good is more complex and profound than we ever imagined. In this clarity, we can be better to ourselves, each other, and all of humankind.
Love,
The Astrologer
